Pres. John F. Kennedy addresses senior citizens in Madison Square Garden in 1962 to advocate for Medicare legislation. It failed in the US Senate that year, but was passed under and signed by Lyndon B. Johnson in 1965. Many of the arguments against Medicare were recycled for the Affordable Care Act, too.
